CS: A PhD and a Postdoc, Emmanuel Candes' (new) presentation on Compressive Sensing at UW.

Laurent Jacques just sent me the following:

Here is a deadline extension for applying to the two new positions (1 PhD and 1 Postdoc) opened in UCL (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) that may interest some of your students or PhDs.

The general theme of these openings is "inverse problems solving in 3-D deflectometry using sparse models". The positions are funded by the Belgian Walloon Region inside a Project called DETROIT in collaboration with Prof. Philippe Antoine (IMCN/NAPS, UCL).

Please, feel free to redistribute it.

Best regards,
Laurent

Emily Allstot sent me the following about the visit of Emmanuel Candes at University of Washington:

....a video of his colloquia talk and the slides are now available at https://www.ee.washington.edu/cgi-bin/research/colloquium/index.pl?year=2010, or directly at the following links:
The video:
Thanks Emily and Laurent .

As I mentioned to Emily, there are quite a few things that are new in the presentation (besides slide #3). Particularly, this is probably the first time I see all of the ADC hardware starting at slide 50 to 58 (I will add that in the compressive sensing hardware page soon). The MRI work starting at slide 66 is also of interest in terms of providing a good summary.
